The Consortium for Enabling Technologies & Innovation 2.0 (ETI 2.0) is pleased to announce the selection of three outstanding scholars as recipients of the ETI 2.0 Graduate Fellowship.
Following a highly competitive review process, the selected awardees demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, strong research potential, and clear alignment with ETI2.0’s mission to advance research critical to the U.S. nuclear and energy enterprise. Selection was based on academic excellence, the quality and relevance of proposed research, the rigor and breadth of each candidate’s program of study, and the strength of professional recommendations.
The ETI 2.0 Graduate Fellowship awardees are:
- Jack Fecteau, Colorado School of Mines.
- Derek Lewis, Georgia Institute of Technology.
- Forrest Peterson, University of Wisconsin – Madison.

Each fellow will pursue doctoral research aligned with ETI 2.0 priority areas:
- Starting in the summer at CSM, Jack Fecteau will be addressing the general research area of developing pyroprocessing techniques in separating fission products from used nuclear fuel for non-proliferation efforts. More specifically, his project focuses on measuring the corrosion while varying electrode materials, exposure time, and fission product doping in a molten system of UCl3 and chloride-based salt eutectic.
- Derek Lewis is very excited to matriculate into a PhD program this fall with ETI 2.0! Through work on technology like radiation detection, nuclear fuel, and in-situ characterization, he intends to research how material behavior at the nano- and microscale dictates its overall performance in radiological environments.
- Forrest Peterson’s research project involves the application of computational optics methods to nuclear radiation detectors. Through the use of high time resolution SPAD cameras and unique optical designs such as light-field cameras, he is seeking to develop improved, compact scintillator-based detectors for gamma rays, neutrons, and other high energy particles.
In addition to financial support, fellows will participate in ETI 2.0 technical workshops, annual meetings, and a required practicum or internship at a national laboratory or partner institution.
ETI 2.0 congratulates the fellows on this achievement and looks forward to their contributions to the ETI2.0 research community and the broader nuclear and energy workforce.
